Tom joined LBTCC from Kenilworth CC in 2017, slotting straight into the 1st XI.
Tom has played 68 League games for LBTCC claiming 98 wickets at an average of 21, securing two 5 wicket hauls along the way with a best of 5/41 at home to Witney Mills in 2021. ,
Reason for playing at LBTCC:
I moved down to Leighton Buzzard from Kenilworth for both work and family. LBTCC was the venue for a party of a friend, so while enjoying a beer I popped the question to Smithy about joining while he was volunteering behind the bar that night and the rest is history!
Likes and Dislikes:
Likes - Shower, beers and umpires who fancy an early finish when LBTCC are bowling second
Dislikes - Not having proper teas and not taking wickets.
Most memorable LBTCC moments:
“A man for the big stage. A photographers dream”
- Taking wicket with the first ball of the innings vs Horspath in 2022 season win.
- Taking wicket with penultimate ball of the innings to win vs Buckingham in 2017
- Taking wicket with first ball of the innings vs Wolverton in 2022 season win
- Having a conversation with our now 1st team skipper, Dan Scott, about my batting ability, or lack of, whilst padding up vs Sandford St Martin in 2017. Quote - ''Popey, you'll never score a 50. If you ever score a 50 I will buy you 4 jugs''. Dan wasn't playing that day and left after making that comment. 30 minutes later, the lads were on the phone to Dan to get him back with his wallet out. I'd scored my only 50 to date for LBTCC.
Goals for 2023 season:
2+ wickets per game
Not get injured
